“Well, the long weekend is over. Time to go back to work. Ugh.”
Yesterday, this sentiment was felt by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
According to a multitude of studies, polls, and surveys, between 60% and 80% of people hate their jobs and what they do for a living.
One global study recently conducted by Gallup showed that of the world’s one billion full-time workers, only 15% were engaged at work.
Why would 85% of people continue to put up with working somewhere they can’t stand, don’t like, or wouldn’t wish upon their worst enemy?
Now, for many of these folks, they simply do not have another option.
They need to support their families, pay their bills, and make ends meet, and I respect that.
But the question is this.
If you DO have a choice, and you CAN make the decision to leave the place that’s causing you unhappiness, anxiety, and stress; why do you choose to stay?
Is it fear? Lack of confidence? Are you stuck in your comfort zone?
I can understand all those positions and I also empathize with many people who are in that situation.
However, in life, with no risk, comes no reward.
We have one life, one shot, and one chance to reach our full potential, and we may not get another opportunity to do so.
What’s that lifelong dream you always wanted to accomplish?
What’s that business you always said you wanted to start?
What’s that big idea you’ve been talking about pursuing for decades?
What’s that invention you’ve wanted to create all these years?
The time is now.
Don’t let another Labor Day go by with you dreading going to work on Tuesday after your oh-so-short long weekend…
